This is the part of Melbourne with the most house per address. Californian bungalows and interwar brick homes on generous blocks, usually extended at the back, often with two or three bathrooms and a lot of hard floor.
Period homes ask for a bit of judgement rather than a lot of product. Leadlight, original floorboards, tessellated verandah tiles and cast iron all want the right cloth and the wrong chemical kept away from them. So do the modern extensions bolted onto the back of them, where the glass is usually floor to ceiling and shows every mark.
Most of what we do here is regular work for families, fortnightly more often than weekly, in houses too big to keep on top of around a working week.
